A writer and editor for more than 25 years, I've worked in a wide range of environments, including associations, nonprofits, publishing, healthcare, and academia. In 1989, I established Write Words, which provides professional writing and editorial services and publications management. My client list includes national trade publications, community newspapers, software companies, local arts guides, small businesses, healthcare associations and nonprofits, among others.
I attended the University of Georgia, where I earned a bachelor's degree in journalism and a master's degree in media management. While at UGA, I held a graduate assistantship and was selected as one of the first students to participate on the judging committees for the prestigious George Foster Peabody broadcasting awards.
Volunteerism is one of my passions. I am a member of Happy Tails Pet Therapy, Inc., a nonprofit organization that provides therapeutic pet visitation to hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation facilities, shelters and various groups throughout the metro Atlanta area, and have served on its board of directors. I recently established an informal job network for friends (and friends of friends) who are looking for work or seeking to make a career change. And I'm also enjoying a new endeavor -- contributing some of my editorial skills to the Green Chamber of the South in a volunteer capacity.
Currently, I live in metro Atlanta with my husband and two rescued Shetland Sheepdogs. I'm an avid college football fan (GO DAWGS!), an avid reader, and an avid consumer of good barbecue. Next on my to-do list: set up hives in my back yard and become an amateur beekeeper!
